Trako 2009 fair

The Management Board of Movares Polska hereby thanks all visitors at our stand during the TRAKO 2009 fair in Gdańsk on 14-16 October 2009.

We met many clients, partners, co-operators and friends and discussed several business opportunities.

We are sure that the some ideas raised during our meetings will develop towards new projects and co-operations.

Movares Group in Poland includes two engineering consultancies: Movares Polska and BPK Katowice, both specialized in designing rail transport infrastructure.

Typical services offered by our companies are  feasibility studies, all phases of design activities, supervision of works, co-operation in design&build tasks for rail transport infrastructure investments and projects.

During 2008-2009 we have successfully realized more than 100 projects, including a series of design&build tasks. Examples are Lot A and Lot C on the international railway corridor E20, WZ tramway line in Warsaw, and several modernization projects in the Silesia region.

Movares Polska and BPK Katowice continuously extend their regional structures, with offices in six Polish cities – Warsaw, Lublin, Cracov, Katowice, Opole and Szczecin.

Movares Polska includes a specialized research laboratory, which has the status of Notified Body (NB 1736) with regard to interoperability and conformity assessment. Besides, the laboratory is an Authorised Unit (by the regulation of Ministry of Infrastructure) for carrying out research and issuing opinions necessary for the approval for use of systems and elements in railway infrastructure.

February 2009

2008 a year of a sustainable development of Movares group in Poland

Movares Polska Sp. z o.o.

In 2008 the company Movares Polska Sp. z o.o. has completed the realisation of more than 50 projects – mainly feasibility studies, design and consulting works and supervision activities.

Although it was a difficult year, full of uncompleted tender procedures and marked by application of dumping prices by some competitors in a tender process, which were significantly below the real project costs, our strategy of organic regional development has been successfully realised.

Our regional – Railway Design Office (BPK) in Lublin has, among others, completed the following important projects:

- feasibility studies for E 30 line, on the sections Kraków – Medyka and Opole – Kraków, realized together with Arcadis, BPK Katowice, Cowi and ETC Transport Consultants GmbH.
- design&build tasks on the international corridor E20 - East:
        - for Lot A in co-operation with Tchaz
        - for Lot C in co-operation with PKP Energetyka
        - design&build tasks on two sections of Line nr 7 (Warsaw – Lublin) in co-operation with PNI

The above design&build tasks are very good examples for keeping the deadlines of major modernisation works in Poland.

- feasibility study for the line Orzysz – Ełk, an assignment of PKP PLK S.A.as well as various others design tasks for the Clients such as PKP PLK S.A., PKP LHS S.A., logistic companies, local authorities, mines, developers.

In 2008 also renovation works of our office in Lublin were completed. We want that the working conditions of our engineers will be corresponding to the engineering challenges on the local market and that they will be at the same time a ‘business card’ of our company.

In the year 2008 our regional office in Kraków increased its employment in a stepwise manner. The office concluded realisation of engineering projects in Małopolskie province regarding railway lines 71 and 91.

In our office in Kraków, which is an important education centre of engineers, and due to proximity to Katowice, where young employees can get know-how from experienced designers from BPK Katowice, Movares will continue employing young ambitious employees, who want to develop their designing skills as well as professional carrier with us.

The research Laboratory in Katowice, which has a status of Notified Body (NB 1736) has passed trough the specialised audits of UTK – (Railway Transport Office) and is listed as Authorised Unit (for local approvals) in the draft bill of the Ministry of Infrastructure.

Present good co-operation with the suppliers of signalling equipment and locomotives as well as opening of tenders towards the implementation of ERTMS in Poland, gave a good basis for further development of laboratory staff, modernisation of research and testing equipment and the positioning on the testing and certification market of railway infarstructure devices and systems.

Movares Polska participates in the works of Notified Body Rail association at the European Commission and co-operates with other Notified Bodies.

In 2008 with the co-operation of Movares Polska a modernisation project in Slovakia on the section Trnava – Piestany was completed. Movares Polska co-operates also with Dutch companies on starting works regarding a study on a standard-gauge line from Polish border to Lviv.

BPK Katowice Sp. z o.o.

Our independent company– Przedsiębiorstwo Projektowania Realizacji i Wdrożeń BPK Katowice Sp. z o.o. realized during 2008 over 35 projects.

BPK executed a number of tasks for PKP PLK, among others:
- feasibility studies for the Line E30, sections Opole – Kraków and Kraków – Medyka,
- modernization of a railway station in Zawiercie and
in scope of design& build tasks, together with construction companies, designs for important lines in Silesia – e.g.
- lines 158, 149 140,
- design of a testing section for permanent way for higher speeds, above 200 km/h, on the CMK line.

Moreover, BPK Katowice executed several works for private Clients regarding logistic terminals, railway branches towards industrial companies, and tramway lines.

In September 2008 roku an BPK office was opened in Opole.

Summary

We hereby thank our Clients for given trust and our subcontractors for co-operation in sometimes difficult design challenges.

Our experience indicates, that keeping the deadlines is more and more depending on the whole project life cycle – preparation and realisation of an investment.

Year 2008 showed that a common effort in relation Client-Contractor is needed to improve the processess of preparation; execution and commissioning of projects and a smooth realisation of modernisation tasks financed form the EU funds.

Thanks to the effort of all employees the year 2008 has been finished with a suistanable grow of economic and financial indicators for both entities of Movares group operating in Poland.

The year of aniversaries of our companies is successfully finished. With a profitable operation, increased revenues, exceeding 21 mln PLN, we achieved less subcontracting.

At the same time financing training of new employees and further investment in hardware and software were increased.

This situation improves the market position of Movares companies in Poland and also their importance wthin the Movares group.
