Regional Office – Railway Design Bureau in Lublin - is a continuation of 50 years of expertise of BPK Lublin in designing railway infrastructure.
The scope of services of the Regional Office – Railway Design Bureau in Lublin is related to feasibility studies, design, author’s supervision and supervision of works as well as the wide understood technical consultancy (opinions, technical expertise, economic analyses of the investment effectiveness based on World Bank methodology).
The design and supervision activities are continuously carried out as from 01.01.1953. The Regional Office – Railway Design Bureau in Lublin employs high qualified engineers, who posses all necessary state licenses under the Polish Construction Law regarding design and supervision of works.
Regarding the quality control, the Regional Office – Railway Design Bureau in Lublin implemented the norm PN ISO-9001:2001.
The application scope of this Quality Assurance System covers Movares Polska Sp. z o.o. in Warsaw as well as the Regional Office – Railway Design Bureau in Lublin, which carries out works related to design and authors' supervision for the railway, general and industrial infrastructure. The application of the QAS aims at achieving high quality of our works.
As the second railway design office in Poland, it received technical references issued by the Headquarters of the Polish Association of Engineers & Technicians of Transportation regarding the design and supervision of works in the transportation construction, excluding highways.
During last 3 years the Regional Office – Railway Design Bureau in Lublin was contributing to the modernisation of major railway lines on the PLK network:
- feasibility studies for the railway line E30 for sections Opole-Kraków and Kraków-Medyka carried out in the framework of a Consortium led by Danish company COWI and with the co-operation of two other Polish companies - BPK Katowice and Elekol;
- designs in the framework of 'design&build' projects
on the international corridor E20 railway line:
Lot A (section Siedlce - Łuków) with the Czech
construction company Tchas;
Lot C (section Międzyrzec - Biała Podlaska) with
PKP Energetyka;
on main railway lines nr 7 and 8
design tasks on other lines, like line nr 71 - near Kolbuszowa
as well as a series of smaller and medium size projects carried out for the Clients from Lublin region, e.g. related to design and supervision works for the wide-gauge line LHS and design works for Bogdanka mine.
During 2009 the Regional Office – Railway Design Bureau in Lublin was participating in the design of 'Trasa WZ' - one of the most important tramway lines in Warsaw. Since 1 September 2009 the modernised section is already in operation.

Geotechnical research of the ground
• regarding railway lines, roads, civil structures, pipes, constructions. We also carry out research regarding the quality of the ground works as well as regarding the suitability of ground for the works.
Railway lines and roads
• elaboration of technological and operational analyses, design of railway lines, nodes and multimodal points together with the elements of road construction – loading squares, roads, etc. Assessment of the technical state of the ground, surface and ground constructions.
Civil structures
• elaboration of designs of new bridges, modernisation and renewal of existing bridges, tunnels for railway and road, both in new or operating conditions. We also carry out assessment of technical state and inventories of existing objects.
Signalling
• design of signalling devices for stations, lines, level crossings for all recently used technologies on PKP network.
Electrical traction
• design of new and redesign of existing electrical traction on stations and on lines as well as design of power supply lines and local control of switches.
Architecture and constructions
• design of railway objects – stations, other technical buildings, general constructions, pomp stations, etc.
Power supply
• design of industrial energy lines, power supply lines, main substations, interior installations, lighting, control devices.
Sanitary installations
• design of interior installations, warming installations, gas and water installations, sanitary, air-conditioning, ventilation, etc.
Cost estimates
• inventory of costs and investment estimates.
Design achievements
Particular achievements of the Regional Office – Railway Design Bureau in Lublin in last 30 years are among others:
• wide gauge railway line (1520 mm) LHS
• railway line Zwierzyniec - Stalowa Wola;
• railway stations: Kielce, Lublin, Radom, Siedlce, Krasnystaw;
• modernisation of CMK - line (European corridor E65) on the section Grodzisk Mazowiecki - Strzałki;
• modernization of the border crossing station in Terespol;
• modernization of the railway line E 20 on the section Siedlce - Terespol;
• modernization of the railway line E 30 on the section Oława - Wrocław Brochów.
